Noel Rahn

Noel Rahn brings 35 years of hockey experience to the Velocity Hockey Center. He has owned and operated the Velocity Hockey Center for the past 18 years. Under his ownership he has designed and developed three (3) of the country's top Hockey Training facilities in Edina, Eden Prairie and Osseo/Maple Grove. These world-class facilities is suited for athletes of all levels and genders, both on and off the ice.

Rahn grew up playing youth hockey in Edina where he played all three years of Varsity hockey. During his junior season in 1988, his Edina Hornets won the Minnesota State High School Hockey Title. Following high school, Rahn went on to play at the University of Wisconsin where he won the National Championship his freshman season. His final two years of WCHA hockey were played with the St. Cloud State Huskies. During that time, Rahn was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.

After his playing days, Rahn became a player agent with his brother-in-law, Brian Lawton, who is a former GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League. Rahn's duties as an agent for Lawton Sport and Financial included recruiting and identifying talent at all levels around the world. During Noel's tenure, many of the young prospects he represented are currently playing or spent time playing in the NHL. Noel was instrumental in developing the agency which was later sold to Octagon.

Rahn later went on to be an NHL amateur scout for the Phoenix Coyotes and Minnesota Wild of the NHL. Rahn focused on scouting prospects in the High School, Major Junior and College ranks around the world.

Rahn is currently very active in coaching and assisting many of his Boys and Girls AAA teams at the Velocity Hockey Center. He has coached and developed some outstanding players/teams, most notably the "1992", "1996", "1999" and "2002" Boys teams. These teams have won numerous championships at the INVITE level.  Many of his players have gone on to play Juniors, Division I College or are currently playing Varsity hockey.

Rahn has a variety of experiences instructing as well as coaching all levels of hockey ranging from youth and high school hockey to College all the way to the NHL level. Currently Rahn trains 20-30 NHL players in the off-season at the Eden Prairie location. Names include, Zach Parise, Eric Staal, Brock Nelson, Anders Lee, Jordan Greenway, Ryan Mcdonagh, Luke Kunin and many more local NHLers.

Most recently, Rahn coached the Holy Family Fire for 12 seasons at Holy Family Catholic High School. Rahn posted an impressive 189-64-4 record during his tenure there. Rahn was instrumental in moving the Fire up to play AA hockey in the extremely competitive Section 2AA.
