"1998" GIRLS VELOCITY HOCKEY AAA DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

We are a Tier 1, AAA Youth Hockey Team with a mission of providing a Competitive, Skill Focused, and Winning Environment for players from the State of Minnesota.

The Velocity Hockey Center has designed and developed the ULTIMATE off-season training program for all elite hockey players of all ages.  As a former NCAA National Champion, NHL player agent and NHL Scout, Noel Rahn has developed a Model Program and has complied some of the best experts in their field to assist these players who are looking to develop their overall hockey skills both On and Off the Ice to enable them to prepare them for the next level of play.
 
The home for this one of kind program will be held at the Velocity Hockey Center in Eden Prairie, Minnesota where over 70 NHL players train annually along with many of the top College and High School players from the metro area. The Velocity Hockey Center combines all the aspects for proper Performance Development in: Skating, Skill Work, Strength and Conditioning and a Small Games Rink all located under one roof to provide the perfect platform for player development. This combined with some of the best Coaches in their field make this program a truly unique and fun Training Program.
 

 Velocity Hockey AAA Team Package (Cost: $1,345)

The Package will include participation in all of the following events:


1. Participation in 3 local (2000) invite AAA Tournaments.

Team will have big sheet practices prior to each tournament. Each practice will be 1.5 hours in duration. Practices will primarily focus on team tactics and team systems.

We will try to schedule all practices at a location that is suitable for everyone. 



2. 2012 Velocity Hockey Center 3 on 3 Spring/Summer/Fall League.

This league is a great way to build and improve your overall skills in a very competitive environment. Players will learn to make plays in confined space at an accelerated pace. The team will participate has a whole. League will consist of:

10 Spring Games plus playoffs

8  Summer/Fall Games plus playoffs


3. Velocity Hockey 8 week On and Off-Ice Summer Skills Program.

This takes place during the day starting June 11th and ending August 10th. This program will focus on INDIVIDUAL skill development. Program will include 3 components of training:

 

On-Ice Skills Fundamentals Training Program:

Students will skate for 1 hour twice a week for 8 weeks. Noel Rahn and Ken Eddy will run this On-Ice program. The Skill Development Sessions will focus on the following with and without the puck:

1.  Edge Work & Technique Skating

2.  Multi-Directional Movement Skills

3.  First Step Quickness/Power

4.  Forward & Backward Lateral Mobility

5.  Powerful Stride

6.  Forward and Backward Transition

7.  Stick-Handling/Puck Protection/Playing in confined space

8.  Shooting Program (Wrist Shots, Snap Shots, Backhands & Slap Shots at high speeds and focusing on a quick release.)

9.  Angling Skills

10.  Small Area Games

 



Velocity Off-Ice Strength and Conditioning Program: 

Players will train off-ice for 1.25 hours two times a week for 8 weeks during the summer.

The Program is age specific where athlete’s will first learn how to train and will progress to more advanced training as they gain experience. This Training Program focuses on optimal strength progressions in the weight-room and developing proper lifting techniques and movements with maiximal amount of motor unit recruitment for speed activities. Attaining these new maximal training efforts will allow the body to adapt to higher levels of stress and speed at a lower metabolic cost to the athlete.

 

All Programs have been designed to improve a skater’s balance platform thus improving their strength and power on the ice translating into improving their top end speed.

All players will be TESTED every other week. The assessments always include a strength performance test, speed performance test, change of direction test, and a total power output test in respect to the individual athlete. This allows the player to always be competing.

All training sessions are implemented in Velocity Hockey Center’s state of the art Strength and Performance Facility.

All programs have been designed by Jayme Pantekoek and are implemented by the Velocity Hockey Performance Coaches certified by NSCA, ACSM

 


Off-Ice Skating Treadmill/Skill Deck Stickhandling Training Session:

Students will train off-ice for 1.25 hours twice a week for 8 weeks. Students will utilize Velocity Hockey’s Multi-Tasking Skating Treadmill with a built in Skill Deck. In these sessions, players will be working one on one with a skating instructor on the following skating fundamentals:

Balance

Edge Work

Leg Strength

Posture

Stride Technique

Confidence

Players will also be put through a stick-handling circuit on a weekly basis while training on the skill deck.

 

**All players will be given Stick-handling homework that they will be required to do 4-5 times a week at home.**
