Summer Camps
Session
I: (All Mites)
The One Week
Session (limited to 14 Skaters per Session)
Students will
skate for 1 hour and fifteen minutes a day for 5 consecutive days.
In this session the main focus will be to work on the basic fundamentals
of skating and to develop the proper skating stride with good all
around technique. In addition, students will work on stick-handling
and puck control.

Players
will be learning the following techniques in this session:
•
Inside/Outside Edges
• Explosive Starts and Sudden Starts
• Backwards Skating
• Forward/Backward Crossovers
• Power Stride length
• Balance and Control
• Skating With Pucks |
Session
II:
8/9/10
year olds

Students will
skate for 1 hour a week plus 1 hour of dryland training for 8 weeks.
Skaters will go through the intense off ice program that will include
skating on our NEW Acceleration Skating Treadmill. Students will
go directly from the on ice session to the dryland training area
for there off ice program.
In this accelerated
Velocity session, students will also continue to work on the basic
Fundamentals of skating but at a much more rapid and intense pace.
In addition, students will be learning the following advanced skating
techniques in this session.
• Over-Speed
Training
• Explosive Starts and Acceleration
• Quick Forward and Backward Transitions
• Accelerating through Tight Turns
• Powerful Crossovers
• Lateral Mobility
• Skating with the puck at a high tempo
Session
III: (Boys: Squirts thru High School) (Girls
U10’s thru High School)
ON ICE INSTRUCTION:
Students will
skate for 1 hour twice a week for 8 weeks plus 3 on 3 Hockey on
Friday’s. The On-Ice sessions will focus on the following
with and without the puck:
• Over-Speed
Training
• Multi-Directional Movement Skills
• First Step Quickness
• Lateral Mobility
• Powerful Strides
• Forward and Backward Transitions
• Stick-Handling in tight areas
• Shooting the puck at a high tempo
• Small Area Games
** Students
will play five (5) 3 on 3 hockey games on Friday’s during
the 8 week session**.
STRENGTH
& CONDITIONING INSTRUCTION:

The highly
intensive Strength and Conditioning Program is designed to help
increase the players skating performance. |
The players
will be put through a variety of dryland methods that will help
build the adequate muscles needed to perform the on ice drills.
Students will also be training on the NEW! Acceleration MN Skating
Treadmill in the Velocity Hockey Center. Each student will get 2
sessions of instructional skating treadmill twice a week. The continual
practice of the skating motions on the Skating Treadmill will help
build “Muscle Memory” to therefore adequately perform
the motions on the ice at a much higher and powerful tempo. For
the 8 week session the players will be participating in the Strength
and Conditioning Program twice a week for one hour.
** Students
will do the On and Off Ice Training Program on the same days. They
will go through there on ice instruction first then go directly
to the dryland area. Groups will run Mondays & Wednesdays or
Tuesdays & Thursdays.
